Cupcakes Hit Cincinnati

It isn’t news that cupcakes, once found mostly at children’s birthday parties and school bake sales, have become the sophisticated darlings of the cake world. The trend is at least 10 years old, having started in Los Angeles and New York, and probably given its biggest boost by Magnolia Bakery in New York, a real bakery patronized by the fictional “Sex and the City” character.

But it is news that the trend is now fully baked here.

It seems as if suddenly there is a cupcakery around every corner. These are little bakeries that sell only cupcakes, or specialize in them. Some sell retail, others sell by the dozen online.
